October 15, 2007George in Exquisite Corpse in London
Sunday 28th October, Sunday 4th November, Sunday 11th November, Sunday 18th November, 2pm-6pm (performances at 5:30pm) Toynbee Studios, Studio 5, 28 Commercial Street, London E1 6AB
The Sound of the Exquisite Corpse : Hex Out Tapes in collaboration with The Wire and Electra are presenting a sound and visual installation for THE WIRE 25. The inspiration behind the installation is the mythical beast creations formed from the game Exquisite Corpse. Exquisite Corpse, for those unfamiliar, is a method by which a collection of words, images or sounds are collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed. We aim to create sonic and visual bastard beast creations by means of exquisite corpse. Utilizing the process of bedroom cassette recording, this installation gives the people who attend the opportunity to contribute a live track, jamming out with previously sourced live recordings from a bunch of international improv/noise artists such as JOHN WIESE, C SPENCER YEH, DYLAN NYOUKIS, VICE COOLER, KAREN CONSTANCE, and THE LADIES OF LEOPARD LEG. This installation will be a continually evolving piece. No two recordings from the month will be the same. For those who enter the cave of the beast and wish to jam out we will have a selection of bastard home made and traditional noise making devices. The space will provide anyone who comes along the opportunity to contribute sound and walk away with a recording of their jam. NO experience required! We will have some unprofessional professionals on hand to aid you through the technological process. LET THE BEAST FREE.

August 8, 2007Get me to the church
Congratulations also to the newly betrothed Kari Hensley and her husband Dustin, who tied the knot in San Diego last weekend. It's wedding mania round here - congrats also to Pete Nguyen of Total Shutdown and an upcoming shout to former Chync member Anthony Lew who will "legalize it" with Elaine Chen on September 1st.
The Scary Mansion record is done with mastering and we are finishing up the artwork. This ten song album, "Every Joke is Half the Truth", will definitely see light of day this fall. Waiting on test pressings for zum021, the Mikaela's Fiend/Abe Vigoda 7" long in the works. Matt Hart formerly of Oakland, now of North Carolina, is designing and silkscreening the covers for us. Abe Vigoda just got back from a lengthy US tour and made new fans along the way.
New mailorder items - a Skulltones 7" from Sic Alps, a double 7" issuance from Tyvek on Whats Your Rupture?, and soon enough, copies of the Nate Denver book/CD...

May 1, 2007KIT and biz
Brooklyn's Scary Mansion, which is sometimes Leah Hayes solo, will be coming out to the Western Coast to play shows with Michael Leviton. They will be sharing stages with the likes of Jana Hunter and the Finches and hopefully many more. Details are still being ironed out regarding their full-length debut for Zum. Stay tuned for details.
Announcement: Paul Morgan and Matthew Grothman have been kicking around this idea for a little bit, and the significant steps have taken place to the point where I feel comfortable announcing the four-way split release between Vholtz, Woman's Worth, Sword and Sandals, and Ettrick. There will be accompanying rhetoric to be sure, but in essence, the idea is a live documentation of parallel/intertwined improvised music produced circa 2007 in the SF Bay Area with players invested in/sprung from DIY punk backgrounds working in what some might consider a borrowed idiom, but feeling it for reals. Tentative titles have included "Four-Way Split To Document The Important Thing That Is Happening Right Now", but a pithier moniker may be in order. Woman's Worth is heading out on a national whirlwind tour this summer and a semi-residency of side projects at Annie's Social Club Tuesday nights. Ettrick are on tour right now and you will be sorry if you miss it. They have some sides coming out on Not Not Fun any day now.
In other label news - storage seems to be at a premium these days, and with pending motions to higher financial grounds, we are valuing the concept of "free space". Obviously the world is not one big download, so until that time, we will still be producing hard goods. But what would be cool is if peeps wanted to buy some stuff. That link is here and that should be that... other than to point out additions coming in from BURMESE, NO AGE, HIGH PLACES, YELLOW SWANS, FUCKWOLF, GERRITT, etc. as well as backstock from the past 6 years...
I am also curating a Club Sandwich show for Mission Creek Music Festival. Our event is an early all-ages matinee with JonnyXand the Groadies, Deep Jew, David Copperfuck, Ex-Pets, and Firlgriend (Joshua Churchill and Jacob Heule). Should be a smoky blast.

March 22, 2007March On
Back to reality - we are still getting the pieces together for releases from Zs / Child Abuse, Mikaela's Fiend / Abe Vigoda, and Scary Mansion. New mailorder goodness from Barf records/cassettes, High Places, Gowns, and the long-in-the-tooth KIT debut album, Broken Voyage, which is out on Upset the Rhythm. Check the mailorder section for details...
Also, I started a Youtube channel, it's pretty fun.
